The Darkness Within

by Michael W. Post
(Apsley, Ontario Canada)

Dark thoughts in my mind
Empty feelings I try to hide
Panic grips me in the night
Refusing to let me win this fight
Everyday I tell more lies
Saying always ”I am fine”
Sadness gives me no reprieve
Insurmountable this seems
Overrun by this plight
No escape, no end in sight
