Breathe

by Rose
(Chicago, IL)

Hold on.

Firm grip, higher and higher.
Shed a tear, watch it evanescence Fear.

Turn back?

A voice appears and repeats his name.
A quiet scream.
Higher and higher.
Simple agony in lost love.
Mixed with complicated analogies. See below.

The world seems so small. The chaos beneath is overwhelming. Tremors. Hold still. Float in solitude.

Bursts of wind shatter glass, Shards fly. Black rays of light bend and intertwine. Circle my breath, reach into my throat. Pulls out the rest.

The pain ceases, the voices quiet.

Everything is still. Finally, there’s peace in goodbye.
